An airline intends to maintain and operate any type of aircraft has to establish an Operations division with Pilots and Co-Pilots who are generally called a flight crew.
A Pilot operating an aircraft as a Commander is the highest paid employee and assumes in the long run very high and key positions like Chief of Operations, Chief of Flight Safety etc., and can finally become Head of the Operations. This is considered to be a very lucrative job in aviation industry, as they become Advisors and guiding tools in running airlines.
To operate an aircraft the flight crew shall have licence endorsed by DGCA for the purpose. To qualify for Pilot licence examination conducted by DGCA a pupil should have undergone requisite flying training in a DGCA approved Flying Training Institute. The admission criteria into a Flying Training Institute for a Pilot aspirant is that he/she shall be of at least 16 years of age with a minimum qualification of 10th or equivalent from a recognized Board/Institute. However, by the time the candidate becomes eligible for Commercial Pilot training he/she shall have acquired 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics. The candidate should also meet the medical standards stipulated by DGCA.
