Technicians are recruited to associate with the AMEs in maintenance work carried out on an aircraft. This is a highly skilled job and demands professionally competent persons to execute the engineering works under the direct supervision of the AME. As per the requirements the technicians employed by the aviation industry shall have at least a Basic licence in aircraft maintenance. However, industry may recruit professionally competent persons with sufficient experience as technicians.
The technicians in the due course of their employment may qualify AME licence examinations and become AMEs.
